HJ Res 48 - The hottest topic of the day. Two of our most celebrated Representatives, Chip Cravaack for unseating uber-liberal Oberstar, and Michele Bachmann for being...well, let's face it just for being Michele, voted on opposite sides of this Resolution.
Rep Cravaack, 8th Dist, says this on his 'yea' vote: “After today’s vote to cut $6 billion in spending and keep the government open, it is time to draw a line in the sand. [...] With this legislation we have given them a further three weeks to approve a bill that makes significant cuts for the rest of the fiscal year. This is on top of the full year bill we passed in the House a month ago and a two week extension. It is past time for them to act. We must provide our nation with a clear, fiscally responsible path forward. I cannot continue to support short-term extensions indefinitely.”
Rep Bachmann, on her 'nay' vote: "This latest Continuing Resolution (CR) does not contain necessary language to defund ObamaCare and stop its implementation. We have learned that $105 billion was appropriated when ObamaCare was signed into law. That means the bureaucracy and infrastructure for this government-takeover of health care are already being established. There is no time to delay. We must defund ObamaCare now, and this CR makes no such attempt."
So what do you say - do you agree or disagree with the resolution to allow the government to remain open for three more weeks until a final budget can be passed?

The three votes that matter
There are three votes that will be the one's to watch for, the rest could just be strategy. The first vote is the long term continuing resolution coming up April 8th. The democrats deliberately did not pass a budget last year to leave a landmine for Republicans.
The next vote to watch is the vote to rasie the debt ceiling. Congressman Cravaack and the other conservatives will not vote for it unless it contains massive cuts in spending. Chip knows the 4 and 6 billion continuing resolutions were a drop in the bucket and yet they were the largest cuts the federal government has ever made in history. Chip has met with the Heritage Foundation on at least 2 occasions and with Citizen's for Government Waste. He knows that serious, significant cuts are inevitable and although conservatives are going to agree with them, a lot of the entitlement crowd is going to be up in arms.
The third vote is the 2012 budget because that is where the largest cuts in entitlements are going to come.
Say what you will about Chip but he is better than what we had before.
We need to stay informed and in touch with our Congressman but for me, I am moving on to the next battle which is sending more conservatives to Congress in 2012 and defeating Obama and Klobachar.
Let's take back the Senate and the White House and then we can really get things done before it's too late.
Right is Right and Left is wrong thats the end of the story
Ron Paul doesn't pander to the middle or the left he votes his principles based on the truth he has researched that others do not have the guts or will to do. Ron Paul continues to be re-elected because his constituency votes for him because he votes the way he knows is right. We do not need a politician who says one thing and then does another. The trucking legislation that recently passed and was co-sponsored by our elected congressman, is bad for America, and small business. This individual said he wouldn't support such legislation and not only voted yes for it he co-sponsored the bill. There are two other trucking bills being proposed soon on the legislature floor dealing with electonic log requirements, and also the trucking point system, both will destroy small owner-operated trucking in America causing prices of goods and food to skyrocket. This legislation I can only assume will be supported by our current congressman unless we put pressure on him to stick to his original word last summer when he stated he supported the independent truckers in America. Our congressman sits on the transportaion board and has knowledge of this legislation. He voted in favor of the wieght-restriction bill that passed and I can only assume he will vote the same on these bills as well. We need a Man to stick to his word and not pander to appeasing the leftist or even blue dog democrats. Nothing less of constitutional conservatism will change America as we are in our last stance for freedom. I encourage all to go to the White House web-site and see we no longer have a soverign nation but currently a North American Super-state created by obama on Feb 4th of 2011 you can look it up on your own government web sites. This executive order superceeds the constitiution and erases officially our boarder with Canada I am not making this shit up look it up for yourself I printed the executive order off myself. What is our congressman saying about this HMMMMM. I don't want to believe we have a crack in Cravack but he has voted wrong on at least 6 bills and we need to right this ship now or build a new one.
a debt crisis of epic proportion is already here, no one wants..
i believe that most americans on the street do not understand the next bubble that is about to burst and i also believe very few elected officials understand as well. it is the most insidious bubble that has ever been created by the acitivity of central banksters (federal reserve) more recently know as QE quanitative easing in their attempt to stimulate economic activity, (get the economy moving) by aggressivly creating a massive amount of new money (dollars) out of thin air (electronic) and plowing it back into the banking system and the stock market, or anything private that the Federal Government decides to bail out and take over proping up and creating at least an illusion that our economy is improving. the problem is, this kind of economic stimulation has never worked in all the history of mankind, though they keep trying, and trying so hard now that our children and grandchildren will never be able to dig out. how could this happen anyway, how could we allow it to happen? it did not happen all at once, it has been an ongoing bankster politition project since about 1913, when the Federal Reserve Banking system was established by Progressive democrat President Woodrow Wilsons stroke of his pen. unholy alliances are sometimes formed with the stroke of a pen as was the case with President Richard Nixon who took the currency of the american treasury off the gold standard. you see they just could not find enough money to spend because the money that did exist in circulation was backed by the gold in Fort Knox. After the Nixonian stroke of pen, no more worry about the money being backed by gold, the unholy alliance of banksters and polititions was off to the races, they spent and they spent and they spent, beyond that they spent into trillions of debt where find ourselves today. i am not able to reconcile an answer other than, it would seem that everything quanitative (bailouts, QE etc) that has occurred since about 2008 was designed to prevent a crash, keep the economy from crashing upon the ground and the american people out of misery to the nth degree, i seen no way to avoid this crash as their is no way to avoid gravity, the america i know will will not be able to print money, sell bonds, service debt at 100 % of GDP indefinitly, the ball will have to find its way to the ground at some point and that is where things could get pretty darn dicey for many folks in america and around the world for that matter. a debt crisis of epic proportion is already here, just no one wants to admit it.
Stop the Spending!!
I sincerely hope that Congressman Cravaack and the rest of the freshman class in the House don't drink the Kool Aide. I guess we'll find out in three weeks when The republican and democrat wings of the Big Government Party try to pass another CR, to keep the government Bus heading for the cliff. If Congress can't even cut funding for NPR, then it's probably game over. We are done for.
If the repubs can pull off their proposed cut of 62 billion from the proposed budget, there will be plenty of back slapping and victory celebrations. Job Done! Well, . . . all that means is that over the next ten years, our national debt will only go up 11 trilliion, instead of the dems 14 trillion. We all know who that Reed and Pelosi give the marching orders to the dems in Congress. I don't think the current repub leadership gets it yet. They are just hoping that the Tea Party people will just fade away, so they can get back to business as usual.
Chip, . . . don't drink the Kool Aide. Oh, . . . I almost forgot, . . . when do we deal with entitlements? Nobody wants to be first to address this issue, knowing that the other side will try to clobber them with it. I think that there are enough grown-ups out there who know that this has to be dealt with now.

People make way too much of a
People make way too much of a so-called "goverment shutdown". If Republican legislators would allow this to happen once in a while, it would let Congress know that they need to actually get reasonable. I see no need for a three-week extension. I do believe that our Congressman doesn't hear enough from us - I'm not talking "hate mail", I'm talking about a straight-forward email or phone call to let him know what position you support. Yes - even if you feel it should be obvious. Numbers mean a lot, give Chip the ammo he needs to say "sorry guys, my people say NO."
You can email Chip by going to https://cravaack.house.gov/contact-me/email-me. You can call him at (202) 225-6211. I encourage everyone to use one of these and share your thoughts - and the same goes for all our elected representatives.
Continuing Resolution
The continuing resolution is nothing but progressive democrat and establishment RINO smoke and mirrors BS, and most all the non establishment and conservative republicans get it. If you voted yes you either do not understand what is going on, or you are a progressive liberal democrat. Firstly the bill included only cutting "descretionary spending" Secondly, the bill if enacted would have not shut down the government. Shutting down the Federal Government, good luck with that, it will not happen This is nothing but liberal progressive BS and fearless leader Boehner either got out hornswagled or he wears a horn like Nancy Pelosi, the smoke and mirrors, whereby all spending for essential government progams, about 70% of the overall budget would not have been affected one iota. Congressman Cravaak touts the fact that his yes vote will cut 6 billion from the budget, folks this is "chicken feed" , a mere bag of shells, and his vote was either not well thought out or congressman Cravaak is going RINO establishment before our eyes. He claims that he wants to abolish OBAMACARE, well this was your best chance to do just that congressman and you chose to go with the otherside. Last week I listened to Congressman Pence state that we conservatives need to " Pick a fight" seems I heard Mel Gibson playing William Wallace say the same thing, well it would seem that at least for this vote Congressman Cravaak decided he had no stomach for a fight. Congressman in the future take your q from Ms Bachman, as she has well demostrated how to win a fight.
