There are few news articles that are more disgusting to me than the ones that show Washington Elites pretending to be normal American's in order to manipulate public opinion.
FLOTUS Michelle Obama has been jet setting across the country raising money for her husband's re-election. At one event the media commented on the First Lady's $40,000 bling, a bracelet the White House later admitted she borrowed from the jewelry store as if to imply FLOTUS is not so pretentious as to actually purchase such extravagance. Rightfully earned riches are one thing but a public servant taking “lifestyles of the rich and famous” vacations on the backs of the taxpayer is quite another as the president's wife has done.
Last week Mrs. Obama showed up at Target with her shopping assistant for a quick trip to get a few things. Wearing casual wear, a baseball hat and sun glasses, we are supposed to believe she is just a normal mom making a target run. Columnist Michele Malkin wrote on her Twitter feed, “What? Don't u all wear shades while shopping *inside* Target when you're trying not 2 be recognized?” It seems the White House sent in the secret service 30 minutes before and tipped of an AP reporter who showed up to take her picture. The official response was ““It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates,” said Kristina Schake, communications director for the First Lady.”
Well, well, well, I guess she is just normal folk after all! What is obvious to everyone is that if FLOTUS wanted to just slip out and run an errand they would not have tipped off the press. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt. Next time the First Lady wants to act normal tell her that “normal” people don't wear their sunglasses in the store and that famous people who are NOT elitists don't need to pretend to be normal.
Michelle Obama has been an elitist since her days in Chicago. After her husband got elected to the Senate Mrs. Obama got a promotion at work, the University of Chicago Medical Center, which included a raise from $120,000 to over $300,000. Did her husband bring home the pork for the hospital? Well, yes he did! Nonetheless, the hospital said she was “worth her weight in gold” as Executive Director of Community Affairs. I guess she was SO valuable that after she left, the position was never filled and the responsibilities absorbed by other positions. Give me a break! No one is fooled by this baloney.
One serious problem we have in the United States is that our legislators in Washington make way too much money and have way too much power. Our founding fathers warned against this. Will we ever get this rectified? If we elect true conservatives who love our Constitution and are committed to bold leadership; if we are determined as a people to rid Washington of Democrats, liberals, elitists and RINO's then we have a chance. However time is running out. The damage is so severe. Lobbyists are paid high salaries to try to get the best deal for their client, a problem caused by an over reaching government. A large percentage of legislators who get voted out of office return as high powered lobbyists to lobby their former colleagues. They all leave office with a cushy pension and a plethora of job offers. We need to take the money out of this equation and then legislators will begin to term limit themselves.
If this article has you steaming by this point let me try to assuage that emotion with a few final thoughts. There will always be self serving scoundrels who seek power and money through political avenues but we, as a people, need to constantly fight them off and keep them out of Washington.
My mom used to say to me, “Pride goeth before the fall.” She was warning that being prideful often results in humiliation. I guess one would have to have a rightly formed conscience for that to happen, something I am convinced many in Washington lack. The end of the story is already written, however, inasmuch as Scripture tells us in Ezekiel 21, “the lowly shall be exalted and the proud brought low.” and in Mathew 10:26 "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.”
These people are headed for a fall. I would like to hurry it along. 2012 is upon us! Get informed! Get involved!
